Cape Aquarium Studio is a planted aquarium business in Noordhoek, Cape Town. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
When you contact us by WhatsApp, Messenger, phone or email, we keep your name, your number or email address, and what you send us, such as photos of your tank or room. If you book a visit, we also keep your address and notes on your tank.
If you ask for the free guide by email, we keep your name and email address so we can send it, along with the occasional tank tip. You can unsubscribe at any time.
How we use it
Only to reply to you, prepare quotes, book and carry out visits, and keep a record of your tank's care. We never sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
This website
The site uses the Meta Pixel. It tells Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, which pages you viewed and whether you tapped a WhatsApp, phone or email link. We use this to see whether our Facebook ads are working and to show them to people likely to be interested. Meta may link this to your Facebook or Instagram account, as described in Meta's privacy policy. You can limit it in your Facebook ad preferences or by blocking tracking in your browser.
The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, and the site is hosted by Cloudflare. Both receive your IP address when the page loads, as any website host does.
How long we keep it
For as long as we work together, and afterwards only as long as we need it for our records or the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you. Email hello@capeaquariumstudio.co.za or WhatsApp 084 606 8495.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
